Specifications say this drive requires Windows or Mac OS X but I find it is compatible with Linux Linux Mint 20.2. It will play audio CDs with Rhythmbox movie DVDs with Celluloid and burn CD-R and DVD-R with kb3. But be careful which software you use for burning: brasero was unacceptably slow. Like many DVD drives today the disk drawer does not open fully enough to completely uncover the disk. The box I received says made in Malaysia.
